A powerhouse performer, and a dynamic playback singer, Neha Kakkar began her her musical journey at a young age, performing at religious events, and first came into the limelight in 2005 when she participated in the second season of the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol’. Neha made her Bollywood debut as a chorus singer in the film ‘Meerabai Not Out’ and gained prominence with the release of the dance track 'Second Hand Jawaani' from ‘Cocktail’ (2012). This was followed by several hit party songs, including 'Sunny Sunny' from Yaariyan and 'London Thumakda' from the 2014 film Queen.
Apart from playback singing, Neha has appeared in numerous music videos and served as a judge on various television reality shows, including ‘Indian Idol’. Her popularity on digital platforms is immense; in 2019, she was listed among the most-viewed female artists on YouTube with 13.9 billion views.
In 2008, Neha launched her debut album, ‘Neha The Rockstar’, with music by Meet Bros Anjjan. Neha made her screen debut in 2010 with Vidhi Kasliwal's film ‘Isi Life Mein...!’, playing a college student. The same year, she debuted in both the Kannada and Telugu music industries, performing tracks for composer Sandeep Chowta.
Her work in the Kannada film ‘Thamassu’ earned her a Filmfare Awards South nomination for Best Female Playback Singer. She also appeared in the second season of ‘Comedy Circus Ke Taansen’ alongside Kapil Sharma and Ali Asgar.
In 2017, Neha began her successful collaborations with Tanishk Bagchi, starting with 'Badri Ki Dulhania' from Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The song became a massive hit, accumulating over 500 million views on YouTube. This success was followed by another chartbuster, 'Cheez Badi' from ‘Machine’, a recreation of the 1994 song 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast' from ‘Mohra’.
Neha also served as a judge on the sixth season of the music competition show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs’, alongside Himesh Reshammiya and Javed Ali.
